Dual Induction Laterolog


The Dual Induction Laterolog is designed to measure formation resistivities in boreholes with conductive mud systems. At electrodes in the tool together with ISO Subs are configured to achieve resistivity measurements with two different depths of investigations (Deep and Shallow Laterologresistivities).


The Dual Induction Laterolog (DLL) is run when the contrast of the resistivities of the formation versus the borehole fluid is high. The measurements are used for the following applications :

  • Calculation of formation resistivity (Rt) from the Deep and Shallow Resistivity measurements
  • Calculation of hydrocarbon saturation
  • Identification of formation fluid contacts within the reservoir
  • Contribution to permeability, lithology and facies analysis
  • Correlation of wells
